i considered joining this tribe until i read this on the marquis...

<<...proponents of Globalization will be removed and banned from this tribe without warning...>>

when i see that sort of thing in a tribe it just makes me think that the ideas contained therein are probably half-baked if you can't even be bothered to defend them against informed criticism.

There are other places to "debate" the merits of globalization". I have been organizing protests since Seattle 99, and I have realized that there is a time for debate and a time to gather like minded people to plan and organize, and that they are not always something that some be done at the SAME time or place.

Antagonists who want to disrupt productive conversation with a string of arguments are not welcome in this tribe, though I will engage in debate on other forums. Of course nobody is forced to join.

Just out of curiosity, are you a proponent of the neo-liberal/neo-conservative capitalist or authoritarian vision of globalization?

...don't see the grey area in this; I wouldn't invite management to a union planning meeting; they would negotiate the 'peace' with us afterwards....

Likewise, the 'No Cars In The World Anymore' folks are entitled to their opinion...and I wouldn't expect them to show up in my drag racing tribe.

Tribe is much more tolerant of trolls than anywhere else I know of on the net; overall, we have a higher standard of behavior that tolerates differences. But an open-ended meeting with a specific agenda is a norm. I appreciate the Anti-G tribe for what it is...and if I didn't find sympethetic minds there, I'd still understand the premise.....

Our tribe was created with the focus of discussion of tactics, sharing of information, and organization of events in mind. The tribe was not created to get bogged down in debate with trolls and pro-corpratist globalists.

Now if somebody enters the tribe as respectfully states an opinion such as "I think that we should globalize peace and equality instead of corporate greed, ect....those kinds of opinions are totally welcome there. If you enter the tribe saying "We need a one world government who believes in free trade the corporations are not really exploiting the people...well, you are going to be removed. However, I would be more than willing to debate globalization in the politics tribe, but the Anti-Globalization tribe is intended to be a group that is united behind a common agenda. When we debate it should be about tactics and specifics. Those who are openly hostile to the group are absolutely not entitled to membership.

Even Anarchists know enough to not allow cops into their protest meetings, and there is nothing authoritarian about exercising the right to freely associate as well as the right to NOT associate. Im not going to control what you think or say, but I dont have to invite you into my house if I dont feel like listening to it.
